Sound Source Localizing All Terrain Hexapod

Description:

Sound Source Localizing All Terrain Hexapod was inspired from RHex (Boston Dynamics). It has six indepedently actuated legs for mobility in rugged terrain. The model of RHex was adapted for disaster management. It is endowed with the ability to locate the source of sound which can be used to identify victims.

Capabilities:

The robot is capable of traversing rugged terrain including sand, gravel, hard ground. It can climb steps and ramps. Due to its symmetry, it can operate even if it is inverted. It is capable of locating the source of sound and navigating towards it. It is fitted with a camera in front to enable the operator to control the robot.

Innovation Challenge:

This prototype won the third prize at Sangam, the prestigious innovation challenge, during Pragyan '16 - the ISO certified international Techno-Managerial fest of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
